As seen in the February 2025 issue of the Shoreline Journal
Soup Fest is our favourite event of the year. There, we said it;)
And here are just three reasons why:
- There’s lots of delicious SOUP to try, of course. See full list HERE!
- There’s a real sense of WARMTH. From the soup, yes, but also from the COMMUNITY that Soup Fest creates. During a time of year – winter – where a lot of us can feel blah and disconnected from our community, Soup Fest brings us together and warms our bodies and hearts.
- You get to VOTE for your favourite soup, thus helping a local chef gain bragging rights for an entire year;)
If you’re not familiar with Soup Fest, here are some tips for you:
- Soup Fest is a safe, accessible event that will offer an assortment of tasty soup samples prepared by local SOUP-er chefs who donate their time and talent to support our event.
- Each soup sample comes in its own individual container, once you register at the door, you gather all samples together on a tray and you can choose whether you eat in or take out. (Don’t worry, they will be marked as gluten free, vegan, etc and we always have a mix!)
- If you require help to collect all of your soups, please let us know! We have a lot of incredible volunteers – community partners and even a few Bearcats – who help us out each year who would be happy to lend a hand.
- There will be live music by Gordon Tucker, thanks to our friends at Downtown Truro Partnership.
- This event SELLS OUT EVERY YEAR, so you definitely don’t want to wait to late to get your tickets.
- Soup Fest is the unofficial kick off for the Town of Truro Winter Long John Festival, so there’s a really good chance you’re going to see Johnny Long John … and other’s sporting their onesies;)
- And, last but not least, you are supporting the important work of United Way throughout the year. With ongoing sponsorships from Earth Angels and new this year Burchell MacDougall, we are able to put the entire ticket price toward our programs and supports throughout the year.
