United Way’s Soup Fest is about community as much as it is about soup.
Soup Fest — our annual fundraising event where local chefs and community partners come together to offer soup samples for bragging rights and a great cause — is one of our favourite events of the year.
This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, February 13 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Truro Farmers’ Market. For $20, you will be able to try ten locally made soups, vote for your favourite, and support the programs and services at the United Way. Purchase your tickets here!
The Farmers’ Market — as well as many of our chefs and supporters — have been partners on the event from the beginning. Since Soup Fest began back in 2018, we are proud to have included many of our community partners in helping to make it the success that it is, selling out almost every year.
Earth Angels is once again sponsoring the event this year, and each year we seem to pull in even more community partners who either make soup, volunteer with set up and execution, or contribute in kind donations and support. Not only do we appreciate the partnerships with the restaurants, organizations and chefs who provide us with delicious soup, we also appreciate the community support from the following:
- Truro Farmers’ Market
- Truro Bearcats
- United Way board, Soup Fest committee members and longtime volunteers
- Cultiv8
- Hospice Society
- Clay Café
- Sobeys Cash and Carry
- Masstown Market
- Downtown Truro Partnership
- Truro Parks Recreation and Culture and the Truro Long John Festival
- Truro Buzz
- Home Hardware
- Will Kare Paving
- Wilson’s
- And so many more…
This year’s soups will be:
- Italian Wedding – BellyUp BBQ & Grill
- Corn Chowder w/ Ham – Bistro 22
- Chicken Tortilla – CMHA: Colchester East Hants Branch Catering
- Thai Pumpkin (vegan + gluten free) – Colchester Community Support Society – Colchester Food Bank
- Roasted Parsnip and Parmesan (gluten free) – Great British Grub
- Marvelous Minestrone – Maggie’s Place Family Resource Centre – Colchester
- Japanese Curry (gluten free) – Moth + Moon Farm
- Tum Yum Soup (Tom Yum Goong; gluten free) – Parichat’s Asia Thai Restaurant
- Mulligatawny (vegan + gluten free) – Supper by Sylvia
- Parsnip Pear Pesto (vegan + gluten free) – The Nook and Cranny Brew Pub
We are thrilled when we see familiar faces as well as new attendees who purchase a ticket and sample the goods each year. Due to the success of the take out option during Covid, we are once again offering both eat in and take out options.
We look forward to this event every year, and hope you do too!
