Here are some of the volunteer opportunities available for you to dive into:
Community Investment
Our Community Investment Committee is always looking for more opportunities to make a difference in Colchester County. A passionate group, our Community Investment volunteers also help our Board decide which charitable organizations should receive United Way funding based on set criteria.
Board
Our volunteer board is a group of dedicated individuals who provide the overall strategic direction for the United Way of Colchester County. The group meets monthly to provide leadership and governance for the United Way.
Campaign Team
These enthusiastic volunteers are vital to increasing our annual workplace campaign and therefore increasing our impact in the community. Managing 6-10 accounts, these volunteers represent the United Way with local organizations to set-up new and assist existing workplace campaigns.
Fundraising
Throughout the year, United Way has various different initiatives to raise funds to support our vision of positive change. We’re always looking for new opportunities and can’t do it without these important volunteers.
Office/clerical
With a staff of two, there is always office and clerical work that we can use your help with. From stuffing envelopes to organizing marketing material, there are lots to be done.
Special Events
Our annual Kickoff Luncheon in September and Soup Fest in February are fast-paced events with lots to do and plenty of help needed. Plus with other events added throughout the year, we will need lively volunteers to help.
Bikes 4 Kids
If you have an interest in fixing bikes or a general interest in this program, this is the volunteer job for you. Our Bikes 4 Kids program needs volunteers with bike tuning skills to help us fix donated bikes to give to children who would not otherwise be able to afford them. This program runs from the end of May to the end of July.
Back 2 School
Our Back 2 School program collects donated school supplies, which are then sorted and given to families in need by our volunteers before heading back to school. This program runs from July to August.
Other
From raising awareness of United Way, research community opportunities, working on unique community projects such as our Day of Caring, and sitting on committees created and directed by our board of directors, these volunteers could be needed for a variety of jobs.
